Les Magnolias - Swan River Cottage

Welcome to the Dordogne!

We would like to welcome you to Les Magnolias, located at the edge of the “bastide” Lalinde, founded by Henri III Plantagenet in 1267. You will find our domain of 2.5 hectares on the banks of the Dordogne river.

Our Maison de Maitre, a romantic riverside mansion from the 18th century, has recently been renovated into a boutique style chambre d’hotes accomodation. The adjacent building was used as a tobacco and wine warehouse and is now converted into a holiday home complex.  Les Magnolias is our dream come true. We have four generous guest rooms for our B & B guests and seven tastefully furnished holiday homes. Les Magnolias is located in an authentic setting where time seems to have stood still. Once you enter by the big gate, you are in our fully enclosed park with beautiful old magnolia, cedar and oak trees. You will find many seating areas in the sun or in the shade. You can ,after you have checked in at the reception, park your car in our private parking for guests.

The swimming pool (17 x 7 m) has a lovely view of the river, it has extensive terraces and is surrounded by palm and olive trees. The pool is filled with water from our own source. It is a unique oasis of peace. Behind the swimming pool you will find a terrace with lounge corner and bamboebar. The pool, bar and park are overnight attractively illuminated and invite you to enjoy until the early hours. WIFI is available in the total accommodation. Inside and outside on your (private) terrace, by the pool and in the lounge area.

 Enjoy the tranquility on a sunny terrace, have a delicious breakfast outside one of the terraces, look at the stunning view of the ever changing nature of the Dordogne river, go strolling along the banks of the river with swans and weeping willows, take a swim in our attractive pool, listen to the croaking frogs and chirping crickets in the evening, play Jeu de Boule, a ballgame, under old trees …

Swan River cottage is located on the road between domain Les Magnolias and the bridge of Lalinde, close to the center. From the house and from your private terrace you have a magnificent view of the Dordogne river. You can park for free across the road.

You are within walking distance of the center of Lalinde. Here you will find a pleasant shopping street with old village centre, supermarket (400m), bakery, tourist office, bicycle rental, banks, post office, restaurants and cafes with terraces, delicacies and wine trade and last but not least the weekly Thursday morning market with something for everyone.

The holiday home is located on the south and consists on the ground floor of a separate sitting room with “open kitchen” and a romantically decorated master bedroom with double bed and a luxurious bathroom with walk-in rain shower, bathroom furniture with sink and a toilet. Via the stairs you reach the mezzanine. On the mezzanine you will find a spacious seating area with smart television

Here is also the second bedroom with 2 x single bed. In the cozy sitting room there are two armchairs around a fireplace and the dining area. The mezzanine and bedrooms offer a magnificent view of the Dordogne river.

This authentic holiday home has electric heating, double glazing, free wireless internet, smart televison. There is an UK vpn connection so you can watch all your favourite UK subscriptions.

The house has a new fully equipped kitchen including washing machine, vacuum cleaner, dishwasher, oven, microwave and refrigerator. Cutlery, crockery, coffee maker, kettle and plenty of other kitchen utensils are of course available.

With the fresh products that you can buy within walking distance at the local market in Lalinde, you can enjoy cooking in your own holiday home.

Through the hallway you have access to a wonderfully private sun terrace (24m2) with patio furniture and a wide view over the river and the valley.

Here you will also find a spacious communal garden with garden bench, sun loungers and direct access to the riverbank.

Swan River cottage is not located on the estate Les Magnolias. However, you can use all the facilities (including the swimming pool) of Les Magnolias. These are located approximately 400 meters away. You can check in at the reception of Les Magnolias.

Swan River cottage has a lockable storage room for bicycles and/or motorbikes.

This spacious holiday home is ideal for 2 to 4 people. Baby cots and high chairs are available on request (free of charge). please please indicate when booking. A barbecue is available in your storage room.

Les Magnolias is located in the tourist heart (the golden triangle) of the Dordogne and offers the ideal base to explore the surrounding area. It’s up to you how you want to enjoy the peace and quiet, the history, or even an active holiday. We also have a perfect central location for several trips with children. Within an hour you will be at the top sites and attractions!

Les Magnolias is a wonderful base for a multitude of (group) activities: spoiling yourself with beauty & wellness, enjoy a wine tasting and terroir tour, house-hunting, discovering the beauty of the Dordogne Valley by bike, an unforgettable wedding, private dining,you name it.

Lalinde, Its location just 23 kilometers from Aéroport de Bergerac -Romanière makes it easy and quickly accessible for all our international guests. Also within a two hours drive are the airports from Bordeaux and Limoges. We are easily accessible by train. Lalinde has its own train station on the main route between Bordeaux and Sarlat.
