La Vieille Grange in Semoussac is a quality conversion of a wine producing barn, the gite offers couples privacy, relaxation, views, large all weather garden room (with full width, sliding glass doors), acre of garden, 11x5m swimming pool & all mod cons (incl aircon in bedroom).

It is different in many ways, offering the best of both worlds in its facilities, its location and in the atmosphere the owners strive to create ! 

Located in countryside, surrounded by vineyards and rolling Charente Maritime countryside but within 10 minutes of the Gironde estuary (with nature reserve and bird sanctuary) and quiet marinas, it is within 30 minutes of a nice beach with lots of lovely local places to visit and with easy access to the life of Bordeaux & La Rochelle. 

The gite is specifically designed around the needs of couples (or 2 friends !) 

The gite consists of :

On ground floor : 

kitchen/dining room : modern and fully equipped incl full sized oven & ceramic hob, breakfast bar, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, dining table/chairs and direct dial telephone/answering machine 

living room : with Godin log burner, TV/video with English (BBC, ITV, Film4 etc) & French channels, DVD player, CD/radio/cassette player & sofa (a sofa-bed can be provided for people not able to get up the stairs, subject to availability) 

bathroom : bath with wall mounted shower attachment

On 1st floor, in the converted grenier/loft, 2 large bedrooms (each approx 6mx3m / 18ftx9ft into the eaves - although with some low beams) : 

main double bedroom for 2 people, incl. sitting area with sofa and aircon ... and French windows with views across countryside towards the estuary (and the sunsets !).

There are loads of interesting places to visit and things to do (if/when you tire of just lying around the pool during the summer!), including sleepy villages and livelier towns, beaches, chateaux/wine tasting, nature reserves, a new bird sanctuary, outside activities (for those into them!) including fishing, horse riding, walking and bird watching - or just sitting outside bars watching the world go by! Within easy striking distance are : Chatelallion Plage, La Rochelle, Ile de Ré, Ile d'Oléron, St. Jean d'Angély, Angoulême, Royan, Rochefort, Cognac, Blaye, Saintes, Niort and even Bordeaux all within 1 hour drive.
