Bergerie Loxanne, a 4 person holidayhome with 4-stars classification where you will find peace, space and will be surrounded by beautiful nature.

(0)

At the end of a private road is Bergerie Loxanne, our village is called Courbiac and is located in the Lot et Garonne, near the Lot, the Tarn et Garonne and the Dordogne.

You probably know the photos of fields full of sunflowers and rolling hills full of vineyards, these pictures come to life during a holiday in the Lot-et-Garonne, also called the Tuscany of France where nature and its products are still pure, just like the people.

This southern French region is an ideal place for everyone who wants to completely relax, for nature lovers and also for those who love hiking, cycling and canoeing.

The house is spacious and comfortable, an original but well renovated shepherd house that is attached to the barn where we live in, it is located in a beautiful and very quiet area where you can literally hear the silence.

From the terrace in front of the house there is a wide view over the grounds, the swimming pool and a valley.

There are no other houses in sight, our nearest neighbors live 500 m away from us, in short, if you do not count us you have complete privacy here.

For daily shopping we drive to authentic villages such as Tournon d'Agenais or Montaigue de Quercy which are reachable within 10 minutes by car and have a bank, a bakery, a butcher and a supermarket.

In the immediate vicinity are many delicious restaurants and cozy markets.

Surroundings

The villages in the Lot-et-Garonne department are almost all traditionally furnished. Centrally located there is a market or square with a church nearby. Especially the older villages have a clearly present fortress wall.

The houses that stand outside are built especially in the past two centuries.

Beautiful villages with an authentic village center, beautiful views or a bastide that are worth visiting are Puymirol, Pujols, Penne d'Agenais, Moirax, Monflanquin, Monpazier, Villereal, Tournon d'Agenais, Layrac, Laroque-Timbaut and Duras.

In the area there are also a number of beautiful castles to visit such as Beneguil near Fumel.

A large number of old and picturesque villages in the Lot are also easily accessible, such as Puy-l'Eveque, Prayssac, Montcuq and Lauzerte.

Although it is a very interesting area for tourists, you rarely feel that you have ended up in a super tourist area.

With the exception of a single place where tourists mainly concentrate, you almost everywhere have the feeling that they ended up in "the real France".

You mix well here between the locals who are generally friendly, polite and hospitable.

The so-called blunt French who are not prepared to speak English we have not yet encountered in this region.

In addition to cycling, a lot can be walked. The environment is sloping and varied. In the Lot-et-Garonne there are numerous marked trails that are also tracked. And do not forget the route of Santiago de Compostella that runs through this holiday area.

You will also find countless lakes in this attractive holiday region where you can enjoy water sports such as the lakes at Penne-d'Agenais.

You can rent canoes and pedalos, water ski, rent an electric boat or take the Gabarre Fuméloise at Fumèl where in the summer you can also be taken by a Dutch guide for a trip on the Lot.

Do you like fishing? Then you can pick up your heart along the Lot.

Every year many fishermen come to the valley to fish day (and night). Here you can fish for bass, pike, catfish and even eel.

You need a permit to fish. This can be purchased at a fish shop, the tourist office or the local supermarket.

Watching stars

In the middle of nature, as it is with us, it is pitch dark at night.

In clear weather you experience a starry sky that you will not soon forget.

In Montayral there is an observatory, GAP47, where you can view the stars even better and where you can learn much more about the universe.

They are open to the public every Friday evening at 9 pm.

The entrance costs € 5 for adults and € 3 for children.

Culinary

In addition to exercise, the Lot-et-Garonne likes to eat.

The afternoon break between 12 and 14 o'clock is sacred and you will then be happy to eat products from your own country.

During the summer you can go to the famous marchés gourmand.

These are cosy night markets where you can eat at long tables the products that local producers offer in their market stall.

This is also the region where the idea of the increasingly familiar food markets comes from.

During July and August this is every Friday evening in our neighbouring village Tournon d'Agenais.

In the surroundings of Agen, prune farming is an important source of income. Thanks to the mild climate, the largest orchards in Europe are here.

The best-known fresh products in Lot-et-Garonne are:

• the prunes of Agen

• wine

• honey

• truffles

• notes

• melons, strawberries etc.

To taste the pruneaux d'agenais you can get a tour of the factory at Roucadil in Montayral. This is one of the larger producers that even exports worldwide.

Wine

This is also true paradise for wine lovers.

The winegrowers in the region have a long tradition and there are still many family businesses that make good wine.

They will be happy to let you taste their best wines.

With over 8000 hectares of vineyards and 4 appellations: vins de Buzet, vins du Brulhois, Côtes du Marmandais and the Côtes de Duras, there is always a wine that you will love.

The Malbec, a real Lotoise, is a delicious wine with a beautiful history, you do not have to drive far to taste this popular wine in the area.

The Malbec belongs to the wine region of Cahors which is almost 4000 hectares and is located in the Lot valley and the calcareous Causse.

They are distinctive red wines and that since Antiquity. It is one of the oldest wines in France.

The Cahors wine, which enjoys an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC), has an intense and powerful taste.

Although he refines when aging, this wine can also be drunk young. Ideal for red meat, however, the Cahors wine also matches regional specialties such as confits, quercy lamb, truffles and Causses cheeses, such as the rocamadour.
