Art:
The area has a great appeal to artists. You can find them in almost every town and at many markets. The beautiful warm light in this region invites you to paint and sculpt. Most galleries can be visited and there are regular exhibitions. You will find museums in the larger cities. Visit Cornillon where Michel Montigné, Françoise Tardif and Leo de Schepper live and work in their studios. The summer exhibitions run from early July to mid-August. Goudargues itself has its exhibition space in the old chapel near the Romanesque washhouse, which you can walk into.
Cultural:
You can visit historic cities such as Uzès (with its famous Saturday market), Orange (theatre), Nimes (arena), Avignon (Palais des Papes, Pont Benezet,) but also Arles (van Gogh) and Remoulins (Pont du Gard).
The most famous is the cultural festival in Avignon. Lasts approximately 3 weeks in July and partly takes place on the street. Avignon and Orange offer plenty of fun things to do all year round. From exhibitions to art markets on the street and from plays to operas in the Palais des Papes or the Romanesque amphitheater in Orange.
The Mediterranean Sea is a 1½ hour drive away.
For real bon vivants, there are restaurants with beautiful backyards, cafes and terraces in Goudargues and the surrounding villages. The friendly Provencal atmosphere and delicious regional dishes can be tasted and enjoyed everywhere. An evening walk in our village along the highlighted old buildings and the illuminated terraces, breathing in the scent of the tastiest dishes, gives you the ultimate holiday feeling.
Some restaurants:L'Ecluse, Chez Marian, Nat & Lau, Grain de Soleil, Plan d'eau, Pizzeria la Cantonade, Le Commerce, La Galantine. Café de Source also offers an excellent 4-course lunch during the week for 13 euros.
You can also go on a wine tour yourself in the picturesque towns: Saint Andre de Roquepertuis, Cornillon, Saint Laurent de Carnols, Saint Michel d'Euzet, Saint Gervais. In the villa you will find the regional information folder. This contains many nice addresses.
Wine estates:
Such as, Challias near Cornillon, Domaine Clavel in St. Gervais, Château des Boussargues in Sabran, Domaine de Belle Feuille in Venejan, Cave des vignerons du Chusclan, Château de Bastet Sabran (A7).
Wine festivals:
The wine harvest takes place from the end of September to October. Around the time that the wine has had its first fermentation, harvest festivals “Fête du vin” begin in the wine villages, graced with regional dishes and customs. At the end of November you can participate in numerous open winery festivities. The Côtes du Rhône scoop can then be tasted. Wine rallies also take place where you take your route along beautiful roads past many wine cellars. Current information at the tourist office and the caves that participate.
