A rich heritage
The Dordogne valley and the Quercy are particularly rich in natural beauty and cultural and architectural heritage. A great holiday destination and therefore ideal for people who enjoy walking. The most famous walking route is St. Jacobsweg, the ancient pilgrimage path that leads to the heart of medieval Rocamadour.
Over the centuries, history has left its mark here, from the arid landscape of the causses to the Périgord and everywhere along the Dordogne river. The caves were inhabited by people very early and today you can still admire beautiful examples of prehistoric rock art.
The Dordogne Valley also has a wide variety of architectural gems, including many castles and some of "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France" (The most beautiful villages in France), including Carennac, Loubressac and Autoire: impressive witnesses to thousands of years of craftsmanship.
