We not only welcome families with babies, toddlers and young children but our family holiday accommodation is exclusively for families with young children under the age of about 8 years old.
The Ruche cottage is one of six at La Grange du Moulin, a small family run property with two heated swimming pools and a large enclosed play garden filled with toys. It is surrounded by open countryside so offers a peaceful, relaxing and safe environment in which to enjoy your self catering family holiday.
We offer lots of activities for the children such as pottery and fabric painting and a weekly teddy bear picnic. If the children are entertained it means that you can relax that much more. We also have activities for Mum and Dad too - wine tastings, taste du terroir evenings, family vineyard walks and a weekly barbecue too. You can also enjoy an evening out whilst our registered child minder looks after your children in your cottage. Many an evening are spent chatting to like minded parents, sharing a glass (or two) of wine whilst your children are tucked up in bed; or enjoying some personal time with some baguette and local cheese whilst watching the sun go down on your private terrace....

Ruche family holiday cottage is fairly central and directly opposite the sandpit and play garden - so you can sit back and drink a glass or two of the locally produced Pineau whilst your children play in the garden within view of your terrace.
This family gite sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms . It is approximately 6m by 6m on each floor. There is a spacious open plan ground floor with living and dining areas and a kitchen area. The kitchen is equipped with 4 ring gas hob, work top electric oven/grill, fridge freezer, dishwasher, electric kettle and microwave.
Cot, high chair, booster seat, change mat, toys and books, stair barriers, potty and toilet seat , plastic crockery and cutlery, toddler step an hand blender are standard items in all the cottages.
The open tread, cast iron, spiral staircase leads to the first floor which has 2 twin rooms and a double. The double bedroom in is smaller than those in Papillon cottage or Grenier cottage, but this means more spacious 3rd bedrooms.
Ruche gite has an open terrace area to the front and rear with charcoal barbecues at the rear. Two families together may like to let Ruche and Horloge gite s together as there is a space between the two which may be used to put tables together and eat as one large group. The bathroom has a bath with shower attachment, basin and toilet and plenty of hot water and good pressure.
La Grange du Moulin family friendly holiday gites in the Charente Maritime region of Sw France are very centrally located for all the main towns, places of interest and of course the beaches. La Rochelle, Royan and Rochefort on the coast and Poitiers, Angouleme and Niort inland are all just an easy one hours drive away at most. Saintes and Cognac are closer still and have plenty to keep both adults, children and toddlers occupied and entertained. Even Bordeaux with its world famous vineyards and wineries are just a 1hr30 drive away. The Coast with hundreds of miles of coastline is just an easy 1hrs drive but we also have a fabulous inland beach and swimming lake just 30 mins away. We are supplied by a number of airports -

Wendy and Chris are amazing hosts and have thought of everything. From the time we arrived we felt welcome and knew we'd made the right choice. The cottages are fully equipped with everything you need for children of all ages plus more for us adults ! Lots to do around the area and we look forward to coming back. Would highly recommend.
Wendy, Chris and the boys have been very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Everything is set up to keep the children entertained in a safe, secure environment; from the two pools, games, toys, dvd selection, to the outdoor play area - which in turn means their parents can relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Some great days out to the local park, swimming lake, aquarium, beautiful villages and towns added to a great week, thanks - we'll see you next year !
Very knowledgeable. Lovely week as we could relax, safe in the knowledge our little girl coul play in the garden in a safe environment and with some other playmates of a similar age. The bbqs great to get to know other guests but you can still have your own privacy too. Good location and area for things to do. Recommend the aquarium in La Rochelle and Zoo in La Palmyre.
Chris and Wendy are fabulous hosts as well as their two boys who are firm favorites of our two little ones. Our children love the events hosted by Wendy as did we with the complimentary glass of wine on offer ! A fun packed but equally relaxing holiday had by all. Benjamin and Thomas were absolutely brilliant with our youngest, taking him under their wing in the pool and during bbq evening playtime. They are both lovely boys and a real credit to you.
