Les Curades - Gîte La lisière

Since 2009, we live on Les Curades, a small estate on the outskirts of Rampoux. Rampoux is a hamlet with 90 inhabitants in the department Lot in the South of France. There is a romanesque église (church) that dates from the year 1200 that is worth visiting.

We would like to welcome you to our gîte (holiday home) La Lisière. The gîte is a former barn, now transformed into a comfortable holiday home, that lies on the rim of our forest. In 2012 we transformed the cave of the main house into the gîte Le Lézard for two guests and in May 2014 gîte Le Pivert for four guests will be finished. Here you can enjoy the calm and beauty of the surroundings.

The scenery is diverse, with woodlands, fields and meadows in which you can stroll or make a bike tour. There are many activities and places to visit in the vicinity. There is an èpicerie (grocer), a bar and a restaurant with a swimming pool in the village Lavercantière, just a mile away. If our crops grow well, you can purchase our organic vegetables and tomatoes for a reasonable price. And of course we have fresh eggs from our free-range hens. The gîte also has its own herb garden with fresh herbs you may use in your kitchen. Furthermore we have fig, apple, pear and plum trees.

Our stone gîte La lisière used to be an old barn, which we converted into a nice and comfortable holiday home for 4 to 6 persons.

The gîte has the following floorplan: the ground floor has a spacious sitting room with anopen kitchen. Also there is the master bedroom with a double bed a toilet and a bathroom with a shower and a double washstand. The kitchen is equipped with a dish washer, a micro wave oven and a refrigerator. From the kitchen window you can look straight into our forest, where you might glimpse the hoopoe, the nuthatch, the nightingale and many other birds. Deer, too, sometimes drop by.

On the first floor you will find two bedrooms both with two separate beds). There is also a washroom on this level. The gîte is equipped with electrical heating so that you can also stay with us in the autumn and wintertime.

Outside you will find a table for dining al fresco, four comfortable sun chairs and a barbecue.

We live in the department Lot, between the river Lot and the river Dordogne. The sloping landscape guarantees nice vistas. There lies a surprise around every corner of the road. This beautiful environment is perfectly suited for many activities.

We have various hiking and bicycle routes at your disposal. Besides hiking and biking, you can also go canoeing or kayaking on a secured section of the river Lot, or you could go fishing in the Plan d'Eau in Degagnac. There is a tennis court in the neighbouring village Lavercantière ( 1.5 miles). Golf aficionados will find a fine course in 20 miles.

In the direct vicinity there are many authentic villages and nice little markets. For example the brocante in Cazals (6 mi) and the vegetable market in Gourdon (10 mi.) are well worth a visit. Here, every village still has its own annual celebration. Like the Poule au Pot that is held each July in Rampoux, or the Fête des Fromages in Rocamadour (29 mi), to name only a few examples.

In this area you can also visit caves with prehistoric cave paintings. These paintings and drawings are over 20,000 years old and can be visited almost every day of the year. There are many castles, too, that can be visited.

And how about the famous Cahors wines? The view of the vineyards is highly enjoyable, as is a good glass of red wine in our garden.
