10-person holiday home at Lac des Vieilles-Forges in French Champagne - Ardenne

Our beautiful modern holiday home with all comfort is located in the French Ardennes, 200 meters from Lake Vieilles-Forges. There is a sandy beach, swimming area, playground, rowing, canoeing, surfing, fishing, walking path around the lake, jeu de boules court, etc. The landscape is hilly, mountainous and wooded.

The house is located in a large enclosed garden of approximately 1350 m2 on the edge of the village of Vieilles-Forges. This garden is surrounded by hedges, trees and shrubs with a lawn in the middle, providing maximum privacy. The architect-designed house is comfortable and fully furnished, you will lack nothing. At the back of the house is a large south-facing terrace with teak garden furniture, a large parasol and a barbecue. There is a second outdoor terrace on the side of the house, near the extended glass conservatory. The house has a cozy cast-iron fireplace with sufficient fuel wood. Of course there is also satellite TV reception, WiFi and 4G network at the house. 

Vieilles-Forges is a small village, located by Lake Vieilles-Forges. In this village you will still find old houses and an old washing place. The big attraction is of course the large lake of about 300 hectares, where all facilities for water tourism are available. The area is wooded and hilly and to the north lies the Meuse valley with steep slopes and rock formations. There are several beautiful viewpoints here. To the south the landscape becomes more open and you enter a beautiful area with medieval villages. Here you will find several fortified churches, castles, farms, field crosses, wash houses and much more.

This area is ideally suited for long walks or bike rides. The bicycles are already waiting for you in the garage of the house. But you should certainly also drive from village to village by car via winding country roads through the undulating landscape to be surprised by the beautiful landscape with all the medieval features here.

GROUND FLOOR........A paved driveway provides access to the house with its large garden. There is ample parking here. The living area is located on the ground floor and from the entrance you reach the floor with the sleeping area via a staircase.

SITTING AREA........At the front of the house there is a comfortable seating area centered around a cast-iron wood-burning stove. You can also heat the house electrically. This seating area has an extended glass conservatory, where you can enjoy the warmth of the sun and from here you can go to an outdoor terrace. There is a TV with satellite reception with which you can receive all Flemish channels, some Dutch channels and all free channels. There is also a DVD player and a digital radio and CD player. The house is also equipped with free WiFi, which is a stable, fast and unlimited internet connection from Orange France. A 4G network connection is also possible near the house.

DINING AREA........A beautiful dining area is located at the back, which provides access through large sliding doors to a second large south-facing outdoor terrace. From inside the house you have a beautiful view over the backyard. On the terrace there is teak garden furniture, a large parasol and a barbecue. 

KITCHEN........A comfortable kitchen is open to the dining area. This kitchen is fully equipped with built-in appliances. Everything is available here, such as a vitro-ceramic hob, convection oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, deep fryer, kettle, coffee maker, etc.

STORAGE........In the storage room you will find the washing machine, condenser dryer, ironing board and the like.

GARAGE........The bicycles you may have reserved are waiting for you in the garage. The cupboard with cleaning supplies is also located here.

ENTRANCE........Here is a separate toilet room and a staircase leading upstairs.

FLOOR........You arrive at a landing with a separate toilet room and a little further on is a bathroom with two sinks, a bathroom cabinet and a bath.

BEDROOMS........From the landing you also reach the five bedrooms, with four double beds and two single beds with bedside tables. All beds have pillows and duvets.

LAC DES VIEILLES-FORGES........On the edge of the lake there is a large sandy beach with a marked swimming area and in the summer months there is supervision by a lifeguard and there is a first aid post. Everything is free! On the beach itself there is a slide and other play equipment. Also on the lake you will find a sunbathing lawn with a larger playground, tables with benches, barbecue picnic area, jeu de boules courts, tennis courts and a restaurant with terrace. You can also row, canoe, surf, sail and fish. There is an elfy park for the little ones and an acrobatics park for the slightly older ones. There is a footpath around the lake of about 14 km and there is a forest and loggers museum. Young and old can enjoy themselves here.

VIEWPOINTS........There are several panoramic viewpoints along the Meuse and the Semois.

ROCROI........This fortified town is 8 km away, a perfect example of a star-shaped fortification from the 16th century. The old medieval market hall on the square in the center was recently restored. There is a good restaurant and cafe. Just outside the town you will find a beautiful subtropical indoor swimming pool.

LONNY........Lony with karting tracks and mini golf is 7 km away.

REVIN........This old town is located 8 km away in a meander of the la Meuse. Here you will find several medieval half-timbered houses from the Spanish period, especially along the la Meuse. 

CHARLEVILLE-MÉZIÈRES........The old Ardennes town of Charleville is 17 km away, with one of the most beautiful squares in France in the center, called Place Ducale. The square is surrounded by arcades, which are usually only found in southern countries. There are plenty of cafés and restaurants with terraces and several old shopping streets end on this square. There is a recreational park of 14 hectares, located on the la Meuse with a marina, children's playgrounds and an aqua center. There is also the Ardennes museum. Charleville is also known for its marionette plays. The "Festival Mondial des Théatres de Marrionnettes" takes place here once every 3 years. Another special attraction is the "Grand Marrionnetiste", a clock that shows a short marionette game every hour from 10 am to 9 pm.

SEDAN.......The city of Sedan is 40 km away. Here you will find the largest medieval castle in Europe with various activities such as knight jousting, falcon show, evening visit with torches, etc.

REIMS AND EPERNAY A little further south lies the most renowned wine region in France, called Champagne. Literally and figuratively a vibrant region, where angels come to caress your tongue on the many terraces.
