We are Adrie and Nel Matthijsse. 22 years ago we had our villa Pierradore built in this fantastic region. Clean air, peace, space and more than half an hour's drive from the Mediterranean Sea. Thanks to our large family in the Netherlands, we only live in Assignan 3 to 4 months a year. That is why we are happy to make our villa available to you. Do you want a carefree, peaceful holiday in a beautiful wine region in the south of France? Then come to villa Pierradore in the atmospheric wine village of Assignan! This spacious 6-person, 4-star holiday villa offers a luxurious stay with swimming pool, sauna, air conditioning and spacious garden. Enjoy the clean air, nature, privacy and total relaxation. In the area you will find everything you could want: markets, beaches, towns, vineyards and charming villages are all easily accessible from Assignan. There is a lot of natural surroundings in the immediate area where you can take beautiful walks and bike rides.Pierradore is a luxurious, tastefully furnished villa on the edge of the tempting wine village of Assignan. Equipped with all amenities and quietly located. The villa is very spacious and, in addition to the spacious kitchen and living room, also has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Pierradore has air conditioning, a tower room furnished as a library and a 4-person Finnish sauna. Located on a dead end road with a garden that offers complete privacy.

Garden and swimming pool:

The villa has a Mediterranean garden of 1560 m² full of flowers, almond trees, olive trees and wonderfully scented rosemary and lavender bushes. The garden offers plenty of opportunities to sit in the shade or in the sun. There is shade on the covered terrace, from the trees and parasols. The spacious, beautiful swimming pool (depth 0.6 m - 1.80 m) with stairs and underwater lighting can be heated and there is a swimming pool for static swimming, allowing you to swim endless laps. There is an outdoor shower with hot and cold water. There are two dining tables, a jeu de boules court and an extensive barbecue. From the garden you have a panoramic view over the vineyards and the mountains of the Hérault, and on reliable days you can even see the Pyrenees. The villa is cozy and very fully furnished.

The entrance is a spacious hall with access to the toilet. There is a fully vertical open kitchen with a complete inventory for 6 people. The kitchen is equipped with a ceramic hob and an electric oven. The attractive living/dining room has a wood-burning stove, china cabinets, comfortable sofas and a spacious dining area. There is a 102 cm HD TV, DVD player and music system. Fast internet via fiber optic. The large sliding door gives access to the covered terrace with swimming pool. The living room also has patio doors to the extra terrace behind the villa.

On the ground floor there are two bedrooms, one of which has bathroom furniture. These rooms are well sound-insulated. Both rooms have box-spring beds, hanging and closet cupboards and patio doors to the covered terrace and the swimming pool. The bathroom is located next to the bedrooms and has a bathroom, a separate spacious shower, a sink and a toilet. All rooms are connected to central air conditioning and heating.

The cozy tower room/library on the first floor has a comfortable sofa bed for 2 people, parquet floors and an extensive collection of books. French doors give access to the balcony with a beautiful view of the surroundings. The utility room is equipped with a large refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dryer and washing machine and provides access to the garage/living room, the Finnish sauna and a second bathroom with shower and sanitary facilities. You can request heating of the swimming pool at least one week before arrival (the water will then be approximately 5 degrees warmer).

Hatching service:

At the beginning of Assignan, just before the roundabout and opposite the church, there is a bread machine. This is filled with different types of delicious fresh bread and croissants. The machine is refilled daily except on Wednesdays. You can pay with cash or a payment card. In the village itself, on the Rue de l'Eglise, there is also a shop where you can buy bread and other tasty regional products.

Our holiday villa Pierradore is located on the edge of the picturesque wine village of Assignan with approximately 180 inhabitants. Here you will find some excellent restaurants. In our villa you will enjoy maximum peace, privacy and comfort.

Sports enthusiasts can indulge themselves with hiking, mountain biking, cycling, golfing, canoeing on the River Orb and various water sports activities in the area.

Pierradore is also a perfect base for discovery tours through the Languedoc, with its historic towns, old castles, lively weekly markets, excellent gastronomy and characterful wines. The villa is located on the edge of the Parc naturel régional du Haut-Languedoc and borders the extensive forests of Assignan.

The name Pierradore is used after two stones ("pierres") that were found during the construction of the villa and which we attach great importance to. This special name reiterates our love for this beautiful place and the area in which the villa is located.

Information about Assignan

Assignan is an authentic wine village in the Languedoc with seven wine estates and three excellent restaurants, including La Table, awarded a Michelin star. Here you can enjoy beautiful walks and bike rides through nature and delicious meals on sunny terraces. Markets, parties and other events are regularly organized in Assignan and the villages.

Environment

The charming town of Saint-Chinian is just an eight-minute drive from Pierradore. Here you will find a supermarket, a pleasant fresh market (on Thursdays and Sundays) and a bicycle rental service.

The powerful towns of Narbonne and Béziers are approximately a thirty minute drive away and offer an extensive range of shops, restaurants and attractions.

The beaches of the Mediterranean can be reached in just forty minutes.

Within an hour you can reach the historic towns of Pézenas and Carcassonne.

The larger cities of Montpellier and Perpignan are about an hour and a half drive away.

Other beautiful parts are also easily accessible. You can reach Toulouse, Nîmes and Figueres in about two hours.
