Bidou is located in a small village "Lanquais" 20km from Bergerac, in the heart of the Périgord pourpre (Dordogne), so named after its vineyards. The Dordogne is located in "Aquitaine" in the southwest of France.
Bidou has a domain of 30 hectares, forests, meadows and fields. The very long history of Bidou is proven by a recently found invoice from 1532, which already mentioned Bidou. It used to be a wine estate and annex of Château de Lanquais. An underground tunnel on our domain proves the important connection with the castle, which served as an escape route during various wars.
The former wine storage room was converted into 2 spacious gites of 80m² each,(Gite Santolin and Gite Romarin)which we rent separately or together.
In addition, the private area is where we live.
The gites have been tastefully renovated with modern comfort, privacy and authenticity in mind.
Here you can enjoy a relaxing holiday in the middle of nature on a domain located in a typical areaFrench countryside.
This gite is located on the pool side and overlooks the pool.
This gite used to be a storage place for wine, Bidou was a wine estate by the way.
Now the gite is very spacious (80m²) and furnished with all modern comfort. The terrace is located at the front of the house.
Gite Santolin is suitable for up to five people.
Upon your arrival, all necessary beds have been made, towels are ready and a surprise is waiting for you in the refrigerator.

These letters are used in Europe by hikers and mountain bikers, they mean "Grande Randonnée", which actually means: long tour or "Great Route Paths". The origins of the Great Route Paths in France go back to 1947. The paths were and are still signposted by volunteers. They only cross the most beautiful places in Europe with white-red signs. You have most likely come across these signs somewhere on your walks. meanwhile, there are more than 80,000 km of GR trails throughout Europe!
One of these hiking trails (GR No. 6) runs next to our house. The "GR" trails are also very popular by mountain bikers, so don't forget to bring your mountain bike.
PS: Do you like to walk? To be able to walk properly on the forest and field paths, don't forget a stroller with large wheels!
