The Lot, one of the least populated regions in France, takes its name from the river of the same name! Puy-l'Évêque is located in the Lot Valley. This department offers a great diversity of landscapes, with magnificent sites such as Rocamadour, St Cirq-Lapopie, the Gouffre de Padirac, the Pont Valentré in Cahors, etc. Puy-l'Évêque, where the estate is located 3 km away, is one of the most visited sites in the department, and the medieval village is definitely worth a detour!
The river has always played a crucial role in Puy-l'Évêque, where customs officers counted the "gabares" who transported wine via the Lot to Bordeaux. This is evidence of the important economic history of the town!
You will discover, among other things, the beautiful Saint-Sauveur church from the 14th century, but also a dungeon from the 13th century. Many activities await you, such as paragliding, canoeing, cycling, hiking and much more! The region is full of cultural events, especially musical events, especially during the summer with the surrounding votive festivals and fireworks. The local saying goes that the Lot "is a surprise at every step". Puy-l'Évêque offers all the attractions for an unforgettable holiday. Nearby you will find many shops, as well as a varied choice of 20 restaurants and a market on Tuesday mornings on the village square! You will be spoiled for choice to please yourself! In the gîte you will find more information about these restaurants and about the Lot....
