Since January 2020, we are the proud owners of Domaine la Fontaine. We took over this charming B&B from Marc and Jacqueline Receveur – Van der Grinten. Entirely in the same spirit and with the same attention to a warm welcome and homely cosiness, we welcome you from now on in this authentic gem.
You can join us for a wonderful stay in one of our 5 charming guest rooms in the ‘maison’ from 1863 or in one of the 4 cosy gîtes overlooking the courtyard garden. Several times a week you are welcome at our table d’hôtes where we are happy to take into account specific dietary wishes or allergies.
Soubran is an excellent base for all kinds of excursions in the surroundings. Do you like nature, the sea, walking, cycling, motorcycling, golfing or swimming? Would you rather go for a day of culture or history? Fancy some shopping? Or are you ready for a culinary adventure: oysters, asparagus, wine, Pineau des Charentes or Cognac? You’ll find it all in the neighborhood!
Of course you can also just relax in our large garden with heated swimming pool and enjoy some peace and quiet and the impressive view over the wide valley because ‘there is tons to do but you don’t have to do tons’.
We instantly fell in love with this region. Hopefully you do too.
A warm welcome,
Mark & Ilse

Domaine la Fontaine is located in a lovely area with lots to explore. Whether you like culture, the beach, you’re a gourmet or you like nature; there’s something for everyone.
The Charente – Maritime is a beautiful and very diverse region, which has not yet been discovered by mass tourism. The people are pure, happy, cheerful, friendly and helpful. The open, yet hilly landscape invites you for a tour between the sprawling vineyards and sunflower fields on a sunny day, rest your lazy bones on a terrace somewhere at the ocean boulevard and have a fresh fish on your plate and a glass of cool white wine.
The Atlantic coast with its beautiful beaches is a 45 minute drive with picturesque villages along the way, colorful marinas surrounded by restaurants and sunny terraces .
There you will find the towns of Royan and La Rochelle and the islands Île d’Oléron and île de Ré.
Many cycling and walking routes as well as the large nature reserve at Vitrezay, with its impressive flora and fauna.
45 minutes north of Soubran are two cities; Cognac with the world famous cognac houses that you can visit and the ancient Roman town of Saintes with its beautiful buildings from the past.
45 minutes south is Bordeaux, city of grandeur – also called petit Paris – with the Rue St. Catherine, the longest shopping street in Europe and many impressive buildings and façades.
The world famous wine regions across the Gironde. Pay a visit to the Medoc or St Emilion.
The many markets in ever so many towns and villages, golf courses, amusement parks, water parks, casino, thermal baths and spas, water sports: at Domaine la Fontaine you have all this at your fingertips.
