Surroundings

In the area surrounding the domaine, in addition to horse riding, canoeing, survival and golf at the nearby Golf Provence Country Club, you can enjoy local markets, cozy terraces and excellent dining options. The villages and towns below are just a selection of the wide range of sights to see.

In the heart of Provence - central to the Vaucluse - lies Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, a charming medieval town near Avignon. The center is known for its antique shops, (antique) markets, monuments and cozy terraces. As the name suggests, the city is built on islets in the Sorgue River. The historic watermills, the canals, the famous antique markets and the culinary facilities give Isle-sur-la-Sorgue an authentic character. The French proudly speak of the 'Venice of Provence'.

Fontaine-de-Vaucluse is located near Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, at the source of the Sorgue. This old town is home to the most powerful spring in France. The underground river at the foot of the rock is good for no less than 90,000 liters of water per second. Fontaine-de-Vaucluse does not owe its popularity solely to this impressive phenomenon; You can enjoy excellent food and shopping along the banks of the Sorgue. From Fontaine-de-Vaucluse there are options to sail down the Sorgue by canoe towards Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.

Gordes, undoubtedly one of the most touristic towns in the Vaucluse. It seems as if this old town with all its traditional brick houses and walls will slide right off the mountain top. Famous are the so-called 'Bories', a type of huts consisting of stacked stones that served as sheepfolds or shepherds' homes.

Luberon, this beautiful regional park is bordered on the south by the mountain ranges of the Grand Lubéron and Petit Lubéron. Here you will find beautiful vineyards and picturesque mountain villages, including Rousillon, Ménerbes, Bonnieux and Lacoste. This last village is dominated by the ruins of the castle of the Marquis de Sade.

Arles: Here you can have a beer on the terrace of Café de Nuit, the establishment made world famous by Vincent van Gogh. In the city you can take a walk in his footsteps using special Vincent van Gogh sidewalk tiles. There are also many memories of Vincent van Gogh in the Arles area and you will encounter the view that he immortalized in his paintings.

Avignon, once seat of the Popes and now capital of the Vaucluse department, is only 25 km from Saumane-de-Vaucluse and is well worth a visit. From the gardens of the 'Palais des Papes' you have a beautiful view of the famous 'Pont d'Avignon', which is actually called Pont Saint-Bénézet. There are several large shopping centers in and around Avignon.

The port city of Marseille is just an hour's drive away. It is the capital of Provence and the largest city in France after Paris. The influence of the sea is clearly palpable and during a visit to the city, a visit to the ancient harbor is very worthwhile. You can enjoy the famous Bouillabaise on one of the many terraces.

Off the coast lies the island with the Chateau d'If. This fortress built by King Francis I off the coast of Marseille owes its fame to Edmond Dantès, the famous Count of Monte-Christo (“the Man with the Iron Mask”) described by Alexandre Dumas. For an unparalleled view of the city and the sea, climb towards Notre-Dame de la Garde.

If you want to use the beach, you will find the small beaches of the expensive suburb of Carry-le-Rouet further west, while the seaside resort of Cassis is located some distance east of Marseille.

Aix-en-Provence is also an hour's drive away. Aix exudes the atmosphere of the real southern French city with its Cours Mirabeau, a beautiful avenue with plane trees, its beautiful old buildings, the many streets and alleys and the squares with terraces.

In Provence we offer a total of 4 detached villas with a heated private swimming pool at the Villa Park "Demeures du Luc" in Saumane de Vaucluse. Equipped with a large swimming pool of 20 meters and a tennis court. At 2 km. There is also a fantastic golf course nearby.
