Are you looking forward to your holiday?
Our charming holiday home is located on one of the hiking trails of the Morvan nature park, in the French region of Burgundy. The gite is quietly situated and you can enjoy a wide view of the landscape.
In the morning you can get your own bread from the local épicerie in 'our' Chissey-en-Morvan - a walk of less than 300 meters. On Friday and Saturday evenings you can pick up a pizza here. The village is located exactly between the towns of Autun and Saulieu, where there are nice markets on Friday and Saturday mornings where local products are sold.
There are regular flea markets in the area. There are several lakes 15 km away, where fishing, swimming and other water sports are possible.
Wouter and Sandra have been the owners of the renovated gîte since 2020 and are happy to help you make your holiday a beautiful memory. Wouter Jansen is an expert in the field of Citroën, he writes about it in his magazine and has published several books. Sandra is a teacher of French and visual arts. Relax, walk, cycle, swim, read, fish and be creative in an environment with rolling fields, lush forests and clean air. You can also enjoy the Burgundian wines and culinary snacks. Sandra and Wouter will ensure a warm welcome.

LA CUISINE
Burgundy is known for its gastronomic culture, its refined cuisine and its many regional products and specialties. A 'Burgundian' is someone who enjoys and likes to eat and drink. After all, the inhabitants of Burgundy love to dine long with tasty snacks and a good glass of wine. This can be done in a local inn, but it can also be done in exclusive star restaurants. In nearby Saulieu there is even a restaurant with two Michelin stars.
Local dishes include Boeuf Bourguignon or stewed beef, Civet de lièvre or stewed hare and Coq au Vin or rooster with red wine sauce. You can also eat the typical escargots or snails or frog legs. But the most famous local dishes are gingerbread, Dijon mustard, which is used to make rabbit in mustard sauce, and crème de cassis, which is used to make delicious kir.
ACTIVITIES
At La Cure it is also possible to follow a sculpting workshop. Various objects can be made from clay that can then be baked in the ceramic oven.
There is a collaboration with Josien Pootjes where the baked work can be raku-glazed. Be creative during your holiday and take home a homemade souvenir.
Or are you looking for peace and quiet? Then you can use the sun loungers and choose a book from the library.
À L'EAU
For water sports enthusiasts, the Lac de Settons is a good fifteen-minute drive away. This reservoir in the course of the river la Cure is located in the heart of the Morvan. It is a paradise for fishermen and sun worshippers. For the more active, canoes, sailing boats, pedal boats and surfboards can be rented on site. The beaches slope gently and are well suited for children. There are various catering facilities around the lake. There is also a nice walk around the lake! The old dam is a sight in itself and there is also a small school museum. In Chaloux you can take a rafting trip. Lac de Chamboux is about the same distance and a somewhat quieter alternative.
