The environment
The sunny Provencal department, with its green mountains, flowing rivers and limestone rock formations, is a particularly varied region with beautiful natural beauty. A region worth discovering!
Georges de lArdèche
Hiking enthusiasts and cycling tourists will certainly find something to their liking in the Ardèche, partly because of the impressive Gorges de l'Ardèche. The Ardèche river carved a kilometer-long gorge with limestone rock walls. A trip through this area guarantees numerous spectacular views.
To play sports
The Gorges de lArdèche with its rock formations and coves is very well known and loved. This eroded river is best explored by canoe or kayak. Adventure guaranteed, even on the somewhat quieter Chassezac! A long walk or bike ride in Boïs de Païolieve offers an ideal sporty alternative. Or how about a game of tennis under the bright sun on the tennis court in the village.
Markets and 'vide greniers'
It is very pleasant to spend time at the weekly markets in Les Vans, Joyeuse and Lablachère. Here you will find all kinds of regional products: from refreshing wines and French meat specialties to olives and hearty cheeses. On the so-called 'vide greniers' you can browse for antiques and vintage objects.
Les Vans
The house is located in Le Vignal, a picturesque village with only a few dozen inhabitants: tranquility guaranteed. In the town of Les Vans - located about a ten-minute drive from Le Vignal - you can enjoy a southern wine or delicious regional dishes. If you want to dine at star level, you can go to Piet Huysentruyt's Likoké restaurant.
Numerous cafes and restaurants located around a typical French village square: it is pleasant to relax in the authentic village streets of Les Vans. You can also do your shopping - albeit according to Southern rhythm - in local shops and markets or in the supermarkets.
Day trips
Enthusiasm guaranteed in the Ardèche! Venture into the vast nature reserve of Vallon-Pont-dArc and discover the natural arch bridge that provides access to the Gorges de lArdèche. Or visit one of the admirable "villages de caractère", including the medieval castle town of Vögué.
If you prefer a more adventurous route, you can descend into the stalactite cave of Aven dOrgnac with a guide. And real daredevils visit the Crocodile Farm in Pierrelatte! This, and so much more, can be experienced in the Ardèche!
Picturesque villages
The Ardèche region does not actually need many tourist attractions as the many small, picturesque villages themselves offer plenty of beauty to discover: Barjac, Ruoms, Largentière, Balazüc, Labeaume, Vogüé, Aiguèze and many others.
