What does Mandarre offer you?
First and foremost, the sun, the mild climate of the Pays Doc. Not just the sun, but also the space, which we so often miss in our own country. Time and again, after a week's holiday in Mandarre, I notice that my eyesight has improved. And then the peace and quiet; after stressful work weeks, it's more than welcome! First, you experience that peace, and after a while, you notice that it gives you the energy to get back into it in the future.
With this cocktail of sun, space, and peace, you're also able to enjoy your company. With family and/or friends, the days get too short. A walk, a visit to a town, a dip in the saltwater pool, or a game of pétanque, table tennis, darts, or foosball (table football), followed by a glass of wine, a barbecue, or a stew. A long sleep, a long dinner. It doesn't need more!

You also want to see something!
Do you like to go exploring?
The departmental border of Tarn-et-Garonne and Lot-et-Garonne runs through the estate. Here, you are almost literally reaping the fruits of two departments. And we don’t just mean the plums! There are plenty of them here, especially in Lot-et-Garonne, which is famous for its fruit cultivation. The dried plums from Agen are even known beyond the borders. By the way, there is a plum museum in Lafitte-sur-Lot.
Mandarre is the perfect starting point to discover this culturally and historically rich region.
Located at the geographical center of Tournon d' Agenais, Agen, Villeneuve-sur-Lot, Cahors, Montauban, and Moissac, these beautiful old towns should be on your visit list. And let’s not forget Albi, a bit further away but easily reachable, and known for its Cathar history.
Finally, let’s not forget to mention Beauville (also one of the most beautiful villages in France)!
Or do you want to spend a day in the Middle Ages at Château Bonaguil (25 km) or the Château De Duras in Duras, or splash around in the Walibi water park near Agen (22 km)?
In half an hour, you can reach one of the recreational lakes of Moissac, Molières, Lafrançaise, and Penne-d'Agenais, all of which are also very charming, must-see towns. Montaigu-de-Quercy also has a swimming lake where you can pedal boat, play mini-golf, and rent bicycles.
Let's not forget the Stelsia estate in St Sylvestre sur Lot with its beautiful park, the largest mini-golf course in Europe, and its unique castle.
Golfers will find three 18-hole courses within half an hour's drive: Agen, Castelnau, and Auvillar, as well as Villeneuve-sur-Lot. There is also bike rental in Beauville, sailing, surfing, canoeing, and waterskiing at Frespech (10 km), and horseback riding just a stone's throw away (on the road to Beauzeuil).
Outside the immediate surroundings and the walking routes, which you can find described in the folder in the holiday home(s), the walking enthusiast will find plenty to enjoy in the Parc Naturel Régional des Causses de Quercy, known for its limestone and rock formations. And don’t forget ... a paradise for mountain bikers or cyclists.
You can go shopping in Agen or Villeneuve. Or perhaps you prefer the little shops in the small streets of Lauzerte and Penne d’Agenais, located on one of the French Compostela routes.
Via Agen, you can quickly access the highways to Bordeaux (Atlantic coast), Toulouse, and Lourdes.
Finally, for your shopping (or simply for the atmosphere), you can visit the local markets:
Sunday Roquecor (small) or Montcuq (large)
Tuesday Villeneuve-sur-Lot
Thursday Monsenpron-Libos (near Fumel), one of the largest markets in the area
Saturday Montaigu-de-Quercy, Lauzerte.
Lot et Garonne is an excellent wine region and also has dozens of wineries with tastings where you can of course buy good wine (towards Tournon D' Agenais and then towards Thézac or towards Cahors)
The area is not very touristy yet. Therefore, you still have to gather all the information yourself. The Tourist Office of Penne d'Agenais (dept 47), Tournon d'Agenais (dept 47), and Montaigu-de-Quercy (dept 82) can help you with that. But now with WIFI, you can also look up all the information at home on your laptop or tablet.
