Aqua Gîte in the Dordogne
Enjoy the view, the peace, the tranquility, and a private heated indoor pool all year round…
Aqua-Gîte is situated on one of the wooded hills of the tiny village of Barbeyroux, in the Dordogne. Our comfortable holiday home is completely detached, nestled in nature, with no neighbors, and is rented exclusively to guests of the same family or friends. We live a short distance from the gite.
As a family of contractors, we specialize in designing and renovating authentic and characterful properties in the Dordogne. And like all shoemakers, all work is still ongoing, which doesn't detract from the comfort and warm atmosphere you'll find here. Our attractive prices are adjusted accordingly.
Formerly living in Paris, we decided in 1999 to live a healthier lifestyle. After a long search, we finally found this little paradise.
We hope you'll find the same peace here as we did.
We hope you'll feel at home here.
See you soon!

The pool is directly accessible from our VIP bedroom on the first floor. "La Plage" is also accessible through other lockable doors for other family members and/or friends. Even during periods of frost (including at night), you can enjoy a wonderful swim whenever you want, without ever stepping outside…
This is why, unlike other holiday homes, our rental prices are higher during the winter months than during the usual early and late season, when the solar panels are sufficient to keep the pool water warm.
You'll have over 220 m² of living space, including two bedrooms with bathrooms and toilets, "La Plage," a mezzanine, toilet, dining room, kitchen, and living room. This layout comfortably accommodates four adults and a toddler.
Grandparents have, of course, been well-prepared, as they often choose the ground-floor bedroom.
Despite its rustic appearance, the entire property is equipped with comfortable underfloor heating and a modern ventilation system, as well as a small wood-burning stove for those who enjoy cooking.
The kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher. A washing machine, dryer, iron, and more are also available.
Wi-Fi is limited in our house, so it's not as fast as in the Netherlands or Belgium. However, reliable 4G networks are available via your smartphone.
The gite also features a modern TV with HDMI and a decent home cinema and hi-fi system.
The Dordogne Valley offers a wide variety of activities for all ages.
Enjoy the surroundings in many ways. You can go on long, scenic hikes, horseback riding, or mountain biking tours. Go hot air ballooning, paragliding, golfing, or motorcycling on some of France's most beautiful roads. You can also swim in the rivers or in the many small streams and brooks that flow into the main river.
The region also boasts numerous castles, caves, gorges, and villages labeled "Most Beautiful Villages in France." You'll also find plenty to enjoy when it comes to gastronomy, as many restaurants serve dishes made with local produce.
Finally, the nearest villages, such as Souillac, Salignac-Eyvigues, or Sarlat, offer access to several shopping centers, shops, and local markets.
Rocamadour
The small town of Rocamadour, dedicated to Mary, is located in the Haut Query region. The impressive 150-meter-high rock face, to which the town seems to cling, overlooks the beautiful Alzou Valley. Rocamadour is located 54 kilometers from Cahors and is easily accessible via the RN 20 and RN 140. The surrounding area consists of a barren and dry area known as the "Causses." Morning is the best time to explore Rocamadour; the town is at its most beautiful bathed in the morning sun.
Also, try Le Rocamadour, also known as Cabécou, a small, soft goat's cheese. It is made from goat's milk from the Causses du Quercy. You can find these cheeses in large supermarkets in Souillac or Gourdon. Of course, you'll find the tastiest varieties at local farmers. We recommend the cheeses from Monsieur Lahore in Payrac, called Mas de Geral.
Sarlat
Sarlat, the heart of the Périgord Noir. Also known as the pearl of the Périgord, is a true tourist destination. Originally a simple Gallo-Roman settlement, a Benedictine monastery was established there in the 9th century. From this monastery, the town developed into a prosperous city in the Middle Ages. Between 1450 and 1500, the town experienced a period of great prosperity. Many houses in Sarlat date from this period. In the early 1960s, Sarlat was in disrepair. Thanks to the then-introduced monument law in France, the town was placed on the protected monuments list and has been restored over the past decades. The entire town center is a monument in itself.
Château de Castelnaud
The Château de Castelnaud, perched on a rocky promontory in the heart of the Périgord Noir, offers a magnificent panorama of the Dordogne valley. It is a magnificent example of a medieval fortification, founded in the 12th century. Today, it houses an important collection of weapons and armor. The bastion displays a reconstruction of the most powerful siege weapons of the Middle Ages in battle positions.
Beynac
The Château de Beynac (French: Château de Beynac) is located near the French town of Beynac-et-Cazenac and was built in the 12th century by the barons of Beynac. The castle contains restored rooms and offers views of the Dordogne River.
Gouffre de Padirac
Gouffre de Padirac is a stalactite cave located 13 km north of Gramat in the Quercy region of the Lot department in France. The cave was discovered in 1889 by Édouard Alfred Martel. Boats can navigate through the cave.
Grottes de Cougnac
The Grottes de Cougnac are two prehistoric caves in the village of Cougnac, in the Lot department of France, a few kilometers from Gourdon. The hillside where the caves are located is freely accessible. The caves themselves are only accessible with a guide. The first cave is a dry cave, containing several unique stalactite and stalagmite formations. The most interesting cave, however, is cave two. This cave contains some fifty prehistoric rock paintings, including aurochs, a horse, a bison, and several abstract figures. What makes the Grotte de Cougnac special is that it is one of only three caves in southwestern France that depicts a human figure.
