Walking holiday from your cottage in the Cévennes
In the triangle Mende-Millau-Alès lies the Parc National des Cévennes. You can find beautiful holiday homes in France!
This beautiful nature reserve is over 90,000 hectares, comprises 52 municipalities and has only six hundred inhabitants. It is a low mountain range, with the highest peaks Mont Lozère (1700 m) and Mont Aigoual (1565 m). The landscape is still very rough, but preserved undamaged. In 1878 the Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson traveled the region. He made that trip on foot and in company with Modestine, his donkey.
A holiday home in the cévennes in France brings you peace and quiet!
And if you go over the picturesque roads, flanked by beech-pine forests, oak forests, interspersed with heathlands, meadows and chestnut trees, do not forget to admire the typical Cevennes architecture, in which granite, lime and slate play the leading role. Get acquainted with the history and culture of the Cevennes by visiting the Magnanerie de la Roque, in Molezon, with its exhibition "The History of the Silk Thread" (Le Fil de la Mémoire), dedicated to silkworm farming; the Cévennes museum of Le Vigan and the Museum of the Cévennes Valleys in Saint-Jean-du-Gard, both dedicated to the folk arts and history of the Cévennes ... Also taste the local produce, such as honey, charcuterie, the pélardon ( raw goat's milk), but also typical regional dishes, such as the Bajana, a traditional chestnut soup!
